• SAT

What Is It?: The SAT test is 1 of 2 entrance college exams (SAT is one test, ACT is the other test). The SAT measures student's abilities and has two major sections: Critical Reading/Writing and Math. There is an optional essay as well. The vast majority of Indiana students take the SAT, however, students are encouraged to take both tests if possible. Colleges & Universities use the student's scores from this exam to determine readiness at their particular school.

Timing: Juniors will take the SAT for the first time during the spring of their Junior year.  Juniors will take the SAT during the school day with no cost to students or parents.  Typically, the testing window for School Day SAT is in early March.  Only Juniors are permitted to take the SAT School Day at Wawasee High School. Seniors should take the SAT exam a 2nd or 3rd time during the Fall of their Senior year. We encourage students to take the SAT at least twice because many colleges will 'super-score' students, meaning they will take the highest scores from each subject area, regardless of test date.

Free & Reduced Students should see Mr. Taylor to receive their SAT registration fee waiver. These students qualify for one waiver per year.

Register for the SAT - During registration, students should list various colleges they wish to automatically receive their SAT scores. If a college is not listed, students must go into their account and request for their scores to be sent to their particular college for a fee. Include Wawasee High School's code: 153-393. This number is used when registering for the SAT and ACT tests. This assures that Wawasee will receive a copy of your test results, which are then put on your official transcript.

    ACT

What Is It?: The ACT test is 1 of 2 entrance college exams (SAT is one test, ACT is the other test). The ACT measures what the student has learned while in high school and has 4 major sections: Math, English, Reading, and Science. There is an optional essay as well. The vast majority of Indiana students take the SAT, however, students are encouraged to take both tests if possible. Colleges & Universities use the student's scores from this exam to determine readiness at their particular school.

Timing: If students are choosing to take the ACT or both the SAT and ACT, Juniors should take the ACT for the first time during the spring of their Junior year. Seniors should take the ACT exam a 2nd or 3rd time during the Fall of their Senior year. We encourage students to take the ACT at least twice because many colleges are starting to 'super-score' students, meaning they will take the highest scores from each subject area, regardless of test date.

Free & Reduced Students should see Mr. Taylor to receive their ACT registration fee waiver. These students qualify for one waiver per year.

Register for the ACT - The ACT test prefers on-line registration. Include Wawasee High School's code: 153-393. This number is used when registering for the SAT and ACT tests. This assures that Wawasee will receive a copy of your test results, which are then put on your official transcript.
