WAWASEE COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION
STUDENT BUS RIDER EXPECTATIONS
THE SCHOOL BUS IS AN EXTENSION OF THE CLASSROOM!

FOR THE FIRST WEEK, STUDENTS SHOULD BE AT THE BUS STOP 10 MINUTES EARLY AND EXPECT
DELAYS AS STUDENTS ARE STILL BEING ADDED AND SUBTRACTED FROM BUS ROUTES.

  • All students are expected to be out at the assigned bus stop when the bus arrives. Buses will not wait on county roads, city streets, and state highways, keeping the safety of students already on board in mind.
  • All students should board their bus as quickly and safely as possible, find their assigned seat, and be seated.
  • Students are expected to always remain seated, on their bottoms, when the bus is in motion. Students should not be on their knees or standing at any time.
  • Students are expected to sit facing forward.
  • The expectation is that students should never stick any part of their body out of a bus window or throw any object out of a bus window.
  • No blankets are allowed on Wawasee transportation.
  • It is the expectation that all students will refrain from cursing, vulgar or suggestive language, or figures of speech on Wawasee transportation.
  • Wawasee transportation has a zero-tolerance rule when it involves stereotyping, and or racist comments toward any individual or group.
  • When arriving at a drop-off location, students are expected to remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop and then stand up and make their way to the exit door.
  • Wawasee students will be allowed to have water on the bus, but it is meant for their consumption only and should never be thrown, shared, or dumped on the bus.
  • Destruction of bus seats, such as writing on them, creating a hole, or enlarging an existing hole, will constitute repayment by the student’s parents or guardians, at cost.

This list of expectations is for the safety of each student on board the bus. Individual drivers may have
added expectations, much like a teacher in a classroom. We will demand that all expectations be
followed and reserve the right to exclude any student who chooses not to adhere to these expectations
from Wawasee transportation.

  • A school bus incident report form with sections for infractions and disciplinary actions.

  •
